Book Description:
The Tourism Satellite Accounts Project reached a milestone with the adoption of its Recommended Methodological Framework by the United Nations Statistical Commission in March 2000. The aim of this publication is to reflect about the main steps which have led to this historical achievement as well as to outline the steps still to go. The central document summarizes this development process and has been prepared for those interested in the economic analysis of tourism and statistics. The extensive annex is comprised of six documents: the first three reflect major historical contributions to the TSA project; the fourth contains the report of the Secretary General to the UNWTO Executive Council explaining the strategic influences of the TSA on the Organization; the fifth describes the actual status of the TSA implementation worldwide and finally the sixth annex discusses possible future developments of the TSA.
