Book Description: The aim of this book is to explain how teachers and schools can build on existing practices or develop new practices, as well as how the system can support them. The book will look at the various processes involved in taking teachers and schools forward in their assessment practice and consider the concept of innovation in assessment, whilst addressing the underlying 'nub' of the issue i.e. what is quality teacher assessment? Using this book will enable individual teachers and schools as communities can develop, sustain and continually improve their assessment practices. Although assessment practices may continue to evolve the book argues that assessment by teachers needs to be developed in a widespread, high quality and sustainable fashion. It is intended that the book will be written in a deliberately accessible style to appeal to the widest audience whilst drawing on the considerable evidence base.
