Harriett Mulford Stone wrote under the pseudonym Margaret Sidnet. She was an American author best known for the series Five Little Peppers. At 34 Sidney began writing short stories for children. Prompted by the success of these stories she wrote the first of the Five Little Peppers stories. Besides writing Harriett belonged to the Daughters of the American revolution and founded the Children of the American Revolution with the purpose of ' training of young people in true patriotism and love of country'. In Five Little Peppers and How They Grew the children and their mother share good times and love even though they have very little money. They have many problems to overcome.
