He is an attentive father, sensitive to his son's feelings. </p><p> <b>Zunik's mother</b> does not appear in any of the stories. Although she is absent, she nourishes a tender and affectionate relationship with her son. Zunik often speaks to her on the telephone and even goes to visit her in New York. </p><p> <b>H l ne</b> is Zunik's father's girlfriend. She is present in Zunik's life, but remains in the background and does not replace his mother. </p><p> <b>Ariane Arbour</b>, H l ne's daughter, is a year older than Zunik. She goes to school; he goes to kindergarten. She can read and write; he can't. Ariane will always be Zunik's nemesis. </p>
